You got them baby lips, Girrrl!

Let's talk about lip balm!

Baby Lips by Maybelline that is.

This product was massively built up for me. In fact, Amber from Obviously Obsessed once featured this product in a favorite things giveaway. Now, she and I usually have pretty similar taste in products so I was expecting amazingness.

I hate to say it. I so hate to say it.

But I did not like this product.

I bought the pink one in pink punch.

Of course the first thing that I noticed is the packaging, since that's why I bought it. The packaging is probably one of the only pros for me for this product. It's adorable and fun and cute and it just makes me happy.

It smells kind of like pink lemonade to me, which is awesome.

So this is where the bad comes in. I put it on my lips and I literally felt like I had slathered oily vaseline on my lips. I only use vaseline when my lips are in pain. For regular lip balm purposes, I don't like that feeling.

Plus, it accented all of the imperfections on my lips. What I mean is that the parts that were really chapped, it made it feel even worse which leads me to my next point.

It tastes like a chemical. Yes, I just said taste. I tend to chew on my lips so whenever I have on lip balm, I taste it. Because it accented all the chapped parts of my lips, I chewed on those even more, so you can imagine how nasty this all was for me. In fact, the only reason this did make my lips smoother is because I chewed off all the skin that was peeling to begin with.
Also, I didn't even notice a color tint to my lips. They just looked like their normal color to me.

I do not recommend this product and I hate saying that because I know so many people rave about this lip balm. I much more prefer E.O.S. lip balms which are amazing and also have some cute and fun packaging, smells and tastes and I think are actually cheaper. I'm a bad blogger and did not save my receipt so I could look at the price for you all but I do know that the baby lips is under $5 and the E.O.S. lip balms are $2.99 each.

I think to make this product more wearable, for me personally, would be if it just didn't go on so thick. I tried to use a light hand. I only swiped it across my lips once and it still just felt too heavy and slick so it's just a no for me.

Have you tried baby lips? Did you love it or hate it?

EOS is my new fave! I only use that or Carmex for really chapped lips.

I'm a fan of nude lips... I rarely put anything on them balm or otherwise. Soft Lips is usually my go to if I do though.

I hate when I buy something and don't like it. :(

Cherry Soft Lips is the only lip product I use, and I love it.

Thanks for the review! I have been on the fence about purchasing this!

I have heard a few people say they don't like this brand. I stick with Burt's Bee's. :)

I wish I had liked Baby Lips too because I heard so much hype about them too, but I just don't. I have been loving Nivea lip butters, which I discovered are super hard to find, but they are so worth the hassle!

hahah. I would just put them in my bag(purse) to create some style for my bag. lol. I would probably have the same problem that you have, I tend to bite my lips. I would hate to have that nasty chemical taste in my mouth.

I feel like I am the last person on earth to try this! And I can't even tell you how many times I have had it in my hand to buy! I'm happy to hear that it smells so good, but sad to hear about the taste and the fact that it highlighted your imperfections. Although I love a good over-smear of vaseline on my lips so I would probably love that part of it!

I'm sorry that you didn't love it! I don't really wear lip balm or chapstick. I wanted to get it, since it went on smooth and just added a hint of color. I still much prefer lip gloss though!

I haven't tried this yet but I kind of want to! I tend to like thicker lip glosses/chapsticks. However, the fact that it tastes bad sucks! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!

I wonder if different colors are different, because I have the peach and it isn't oily in my opinion and it tastes amazing! It tastes fruity. I've been using EOS for a few years and I love it too!
