Operation Smile

Have you ever heard of a cleft lip and cleft palate? It's a congenital malformation that occurs during pregnancy. To put it simply, it's a gap in the lip and upper palate of the mouth. As you can probably imagine, they can lead to some problems for the child born with these conditions.

According to the Operation Smile About Us page, every three minutes a child is born with a cleft. This can affect their ability eat, speak, socialize and even smile. Operation Smile is committed to raising money to heal these conditions through surgeries because there are many parents that cannot afford these surgeries themselves.

This is where Campus Book Rentals comes in. They have partnered with Operation Smile to donate over one thousand cleft lip surgeries to those families in need. I'd say that this is a huge contribution. With each textbook that is rented from them, such as this Critical Care Nursing textbook that I'll be using next semester, they donate to Operation Smile.

Renting a textbook can be a great alternative from buying from your campus book store because you can save anywhere from 40-90% off their prices and you get free shipping both ways. Another benefit for Campus Book Rentals is that you can highlight in their textbooks and they offer flexible renting periods.
Nursing uses a lot of textbooks, as you can see in the picture below, so it's nice when I can save some money renting them!

Here's a video that explains a little more about how Campus Book Rentals work:

Do you rent your textbooks?
Are you more likely to rent from a company that gives back to a foundation such as Operation Smile?

I rented my textbooks from Campus Book Rentals last semester and I saved so much money! I think I only spent around $25 dollars for each of my books. Sadly, I have to buy all my books new this year for the first semester of the nursing program.

This is such a great cause! I hadn't heard of something like this before. If I would've known about this during school I would've used this.
