So, I took my happy butt to our kitchen, popped that baby in the freezer and then promptly forgot about it. Until Cody went to the gym about three hours later. So, while he was gone, I went and got the candle and a butter knife (hello, dull?) and started trying to get the wax out.
That's right. I was almost done getting all the wax out. The end was in site! Then that happened. I was so mad. I had already nearly risked my fingers and everything else trying to get this wax out of the candle. It was not simple.
I was expecting to run the knife around the outside of the wax to let it separate from the candle sides and then it would pop out like a disk.
Uh, no. Not happening, apparently.
I didn't even try to fix it. I was too mad. I will not be using this "freezer method" again. I will definitely be using my old method which is when I'm burning the candle all the way to the bottom, I pour all the already melted wax into a red solo cup, wait for it to harden and toss it in the trash. It seems much safer and works so much better! I've already got another candle ready to be made into a makeup brush holder using that method!

Awhh, I am sorry the freezer method didn't work for you! I just did it the other day and it worked perfectly!
The freezer methods works best if a candle warmer was used to heat the candle opposed to burning. I'm not sure why the difference. I also know it depends greatly on the thickness of the glass. I've had the best luck with IKEA candle jars.
That's so funny that you posted this. My room mate just did this yesterday and it worked perfect! The wax at the bottom just popped out. She did it with a yankee candle. I wonder if the type of wax has something to do with it.
You should warm the glass in a pan of hot water, then drip the remaining wax into another container or into the bin, so much cleaner

Uhh is it bad that I don't use any method to reuse my candles? I kinda just burn them down as much as I can and then just get a new one. I'm glad you didn't slice your fingers off!
I have to agree with Ashley's comment above that it always works for me when I use those "tart" warmer thingies from Yankee Candle. When I put that in the freezer, the wax pops right out. But it never works for candles that I actually light the wick. Don't know why. :(
But I'm glad you BUSTED this pin, haha. And I'm soooo loving your new design, looks awesome. :)
good to know that doesn't work!! i was just about to try this!
I did this without even freezing it! Maybe give it another try?
Pour boiling water in the jar. It helps loosen the wax that's along the sides and any chunks left on the bottom. I've used it, and it works fabulously.
Oh no! :( I have done it a few times without them breaking. Just keep trying. :)

haha I do that all the time! I burn candles like a fiend (seriously, one of those three-wick candles lasts BARELY a week in our house (which can get expensive!) so I reuse the jars to make more when I'm finished with 'em (soy candles for the win!). I usually either freeze them for DAYS or stick them in the microwave (eek). Used to worry about the little metal parts but I've never had an issue anymore... maybe I'm now slowly dying from some mutant cancer now though ;)
Rats!! It was a genius idea....maybe not leave it in there as long next time. And I love your new name and design!!!! Way to go!
The freezer method always works very easily for me with no problems. I wonder what happened?!
Oh no! I hate that. I love B&BW candles!
Hmm..wouldn't the knife scratch the plastic/glass of the container anyways?
Oh nooo...I just got three new B&BW candles for Christmas & I'm already looking forward to cleaning them out to use them as containers. :( Sad to know that yours broke, I am still going to try & see if I can get the hang of it!
