I am completely clueless about sewing machines too! I got one for $30 last year on craigslist to learn on, but I'm still too scared to use it!

I had fun watching your whole video, and I'm glad you had a great Christmas! Just weighing in on the sewing machines here, I don't know much about them either but I have the 2nd one, and I am very happy with it. I've had it a little over a year now, and I have done several projects with it. I don't know much more besides the fact that I have it and that I like it, so I might not be the best judge. I just thought I'd give you my two cents worth.
