Studying Alone
Here is the primary way I study in Nursing School. With different schedules, it's hard to coordinate a time in nursing school and I end up doing the majority of my studying by myself
So here are some of my tips:
(1) Make your study materials as the lectures go along. This means for week one, make your notecards, flashcards, memorization charts etc. Then do the same for week two, then week three and so one. That way when it comes time to study for the test, you aren't bogged down by writing 300 flash cards (No, that's not an exaggeration.)
(2) Make a study schedule and stick to it but also be flexible. One of the beautiful things about studying by yourself is that you can work on your own time. Meaning, if you have trouble with a concept, you can spend more time on it. Because you aren't catering to a group, it's all personalized.
(3) Have other reference materials. Use google. Because there isn't another person sitting with you, they can't explain something. So you may have to search for something that explains it in a way that you understand.
(4) Make your own study space. This means away from your husband, your kids and maybe even your dog. Get yourself in your own little zone so that you can work and be diligent.
(5) Use methods of quizzing yourself. Write questions to answer as you go along in your reading. Use apps like studyblue (which is free) to make flashcards to use on your computer or your phone.
Those are the top tips that I've used in the past for studying by myself! I actually get a lot done in a shorter amount of time by utilizing those tips.

I'm so glad I started following your blog! Thanks for these great study tips, I've tried the whole group study but usually the ones I study with end up just gossiping & no studying actually gets done. It's a waste of my time & daycare money. I'm going to have to try the note cards online, never knew those existed!
