So, in case you guys haven't heard of Influenster it's a company that sends out Voxboxes which are boxes full of beauty samples. Kind of like Birch Box or Beauty Army, but you don't pay a monthly fee. In fact, it's free. Yes, free.
You go to the website and sign up for a free account and then start earning badges based on your lifestyle. Influenster will then select you to receive a voxbox when your demographic is chosen.
I signed up in May and I got the summer beauty voxbox this month!
I was so excited to test out these products. Here is a picture of everything my voxbox came with:
Yeah, this bar was gone within an hour of receiving my box. The info card says this:
"Made with real bananas and almonds, Quaker Soft Bars in Banana Nut Bread flavor have tasty ingredients to help provide fuel to start your day. 5g Fiber, 20% DV of 5 B vitamins and 6g of protein!"
This bar was delicious! I am definitely going to have to add this to my grocery list to eat on the way to clinicals when school starts!
I also got this nail polish, which is awesome because it's a full size and retails for 9.99!
I got it in the color "Polar Purple"
I'm really glad that I read the info card, because I did not know what to use the top of the bottle for. It says:
"Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color is summer's hottest nail trend that allows you to create gorgeous 3-D nail art effect in just seconds! This unique formula was specifically developed with metallic particles-just hold the built in magnet over wet polish to reveal a unique design on the nail"
Yeah, like I said, I'm glad I read that. I thought the "magnetic" part was really just that it was a metallic nail polish.
Basically, you paint your nail and then rest your finger on the top of it (there's a little ridge to keep you from ruining the polish) and it creates a cool effect on your nails.
I did realize quickly that you have to do each nail as you paint it, but it doesn't take long. I also tried holding it over my nail longer or even holding my nail over the magnet at different angles to get a different effect and that really didn't do anything.
The only thing that did change the effect was putting the polish on thicker.
Overall, the polish goes on really well and the brush is perfect.
It was hard to get a picture of the effect, but this picture was the best one I got. This is before I got all the nail polish I got around my nails off. There's not as much as there usually is. I definitely credit the formula and brush. I just painted my nails, so I don't know how long it takes to chip but I'll let you know!
**Update: Turns out this nail polish looks really good, for about two days. When it chips, it flakes off in big clumps. Good thing I took this on my trip because I had to do a touch up paint drop while I was there, which kind of sucks. But oh well.
I followed it up with this hand cream that also came in the voxbox.
The info card says this:
"Made with shea butter, the Sally Hansen Nails and Cuticle creme softens hands, smooths cuticles and conditions nails. Active Moisture Complex formula with Ceramides helps to lock in nutrients so hands maintain their ideal moisture level. Offers 24 hr moisture and lasts through hand washing!"
I always find most hand cremes to be too oily and gross but this one soaks in your skin quickly. I was cleaning with bleach earlier today and this put the moisture right back into my hands that were feeling pretty dry. It also smells like orange tic tacs so win win.
I tend to chew on my cuticles, and I've noticed that this makes my hands taste gross. I guess that is actually a good thing though, since it keeps me from chewing.
I haven't tried the Always Radiant Tampax collection or the Hawaiian Tropic Sunscreen but I will later on! I do like the clutch that the Always Radiant Tampax collection comes in! Very handy!
