DIY Wall Decor

I saw this on pinterest and just knew that I had to make it myself for over our bed! I'm doing four blocks instead of 9 though.

First, I went to Michael's to get some scrapbook sheets. These are 12x12.

Then, I bought some plywood. Luckily, they had this at Michael's too! I bought the 12x12x1/4in but they had them in thicker slices as well, depending on how much you want them to stick out from the wall

Next, I painted the sides with some black paint I already owned. Obviously, you could do any color here.

I used super glue to put the paper onto the wood. Then I used an exacto knife to cut the little bit of excess off. I don't have pics of this step but I figured it was self-explanatory enough.

I went to walmart and bought some picture hanging hardware. This is almost flat so depending on how close your nail is to the wall, these pictures are going to be almost flush with the wall, which is what you want.

We had to bend our nails because they were too long for the board and we didn't want to push the nails through.

You're all done! You can go hang these on the wall now! I'm going to put them in a cube design, but they'd be cute kind of scattered like a gallery wall or put all in a row. You could also do different sizes and just cut the paper down to where you need it.

Material Breakdown:

  • Scrapbook Sheets: Normally 59 cents but I got them on sale for 17 cents
  • Plywood Tiles: 3.99 I bought two for now because that's how many coupons I had! I got one for 2.00 and one for 2.15
  • Super Glue: already had on hand
  • Picture hanging hardware: 97 cents for 5 of them
  • Total: My total was $5.46 for the whole thing! By the time I get done making all four, I will spend less than $15!

Love this! I've wanted to do it forever! You should take a picture of what it looks like once you hang them up!
